ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY Universiti Brunei Darussalam is emerging as one of the leading institutions of higher education in Asia. It was established in 1985, opening its doors to the first intake of 176 students. Since then, UBD has seen an increase in the number of graduates, the introduction of new academic programs, infrastructure improvement and development of postgraduate studies. Teaching and learning Universiti Brunei Darussalam is guided by its four core values: people, experience, relevance and leadership. These values are used as standards in the development and operation of eight academic faculties, nine research institutes and six centers of academic services ranging from Islamic Studies, Business, Arts, Sciences, Health Sciences, Asian Studies, Politics, Education, Biodiversity and Integrated Technologies. Next Generation Education In a relatively short period of time, UBD has advanced and expanded both in academia and infrastructure, production of influential leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals. In 2009, UBD GenNext presented the framework program that has a broad-based and transdisciplinary, which gives students the flexibility to tailor their studies according to their individual learning styles. This includes pioneering programs UBD Discovery, which currently provides opportunities for their students to learn in a global platform through partnerships with universities and institutions across six continents Year. International reputation Universiti Brunei Darussalam achieved top 25 in five categories Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) ranking. In three categories, UBD is in the top 10. The University was ranked first in the outgoing exchange students, incoming exchange student second, 6th international teachers, 14 students and 23 international students proportion of faculty. Overall, UBD has jumped a dramatic 57 places from 171 to 180 2014-118 this year in the QS Asian University Ranking. Research Excellence The QS ranking also saw the escalation of research productivity in the UBD in the last five years. As a knowledge center in the nation, academic institutions, and strives to instill UBD relevant knowledge and produce good quality workmanship. Therefore, the support of the public and private sectors are key to research excellence. This has led to his rise in the rankings of international academic reputation unranked in 2014 to 129th. The university has also seen significant progress in its publication and research results. If unranked, UBD is now 139th in Asia for both staff publications and citations per article. The discipline of Arts and Humanities, previously unranked, is now 127th in Asia. The natural sciences have gone from unranked to 149th, social sciences from 187th to 162nd, Life Sciences and Medicine 201-300 170, and Engineering and Technology in the range of 201-300.
